Evelin Kasikov In-depth Analysis
Evelin Kasikov who created this art piece lives and works in London as is a the author of CMYK embroidery as well as a graphic designer. She graduated from Central Saint Martins with an Master of Arts in Communication Design and then spent 10 years working in advertising.
She challenges the different conceptions possible of embroidery, using typography and grid systems. Evelin Kasikov's illustrations have be authorised by The Guardian, WIRED and The New York Times. Her art work has also been published in different books and magazines.
The picture above is a simple example of a letter made using the cross stitching technique (made by Evelin Kasikov), that has inspired me to make cross stitching typography using thread on an embroidery hoop. Although I won't make bold letters using thread, I like the way that Evelin Kasikov has created a bold letter by stitching a variety of crosses to make the letter 'a'. I also like the colours she chose as she picked pale colours; pink, yellow and blue, as well as black which stands out amount the other colours.
